Kopenhagen Contemporary: See new art in the streets
Performances in the streets, debates and "tour de chambre" in galleries. See contemporary art in a densely-packed weekend when Kopenhagen Contemporary puts the spotlight on the art scene from 2 to 5 September.
Copenhagen's contemporary art scene is bubbling, and galleries are being invited to exhibit at trend-setting exhibitions all over the world. Wonderful Copenhagen, together with Kopenhagen Publishing, will be celebrating that with the Kopenhagen Contemporary gallery weekend, to be held for the third time this September.
Over one weekend, there will be a special focus on performances and the art as it is today with a number of events bringing you closer to the contemporary art scene and to a number of young Danish artists.
Get behind the art
The weekend's offers include debates and talks where directors and curators from the largest institutions will explain how they create exhibitions today. There will also be a number of performances, including at the Carlsberg Galleries where you can see completely new live and social works, and a guided "tour de chambre" will keep you up to date with the galleries' exhibitions.
To mark the tenth anniversary of the Øresund Region, you can also take a trip across the Sound and see new art including at Malmö Konsthall (art hall) or go to Ørestad in southern Copenhagen to see performances in VM BJERGET's apartments. Everything kicks off with an opening bar on Thursday, and there is also an art festival on Saturday.
The organisers and participants include both established names, newly-opened galleries and exhibition rooms, including: Galleri Christina Wilson, Galleri Susanne Ottesen, IMO, Galleri Mikael Andersen, Nils Stærk, the National Gallery of Denmark, Louisiana and Arken. The goal is to show the range and high quality of the Copenhagen art scene.
The programme for Kopenhagen Contemporary will be available in August.
