Kopenhagen Contemporary

Press Release 08.09.09

Get smart about art in one weekend

Attend openings, debates, guided tours and performances and hear artists speak about their work when art weekend Kopenhagen Contemporary opens on the 18 -20 September.

During an intense weekend, delve into the art world when style-setting galleries, exhibition halls, studios and museums open their doors to more than 40 special events, which with few exceptions are free.

See a joint exhibition, Dark Side of the Moon, at the newly re-opened gallery Nils Stærk Contemporary Arts on Ny Carlsberg Vej where a handful of players on the art scene have established themselves. Or attend a panel debate where gallery owner Nicolai Wallner and curator Anders Kold among others, discuss how to interpret impalpable art. Enjoy a brunch talk at Den Frie Udstillingsbygning (Centre of Contemporary Art) or attend artist talks with Jeppe Hein, Joachim Koester and John Kørner.

The events and their arrangers come from both the established forces and the newly opened galleries and exhibition studios such as Gallery Bo Bjerggard, IMO, Gallery Christina Wilson, WAS-Wonderland Art Space, Koh-I-Noor, the National Gallery of Denmark and Kunsthal Charlottenborg. The goal is to show the wide range as well as the high level of quality on the Copenhagen art scene.

This is the second time that Wonderful Copenhagen together with Kopenhagen Publishing has organized Kopenhagen Contemporary – an annual event with focus on what’s new and noteworthy on the Danish art scene. This time, it is also in conjunction with Art Copenhagen in Forum.
