Kopenhagen Contemporary showcases world-class modern art

From the 5 – 7 September 2008, galleries, museums and exhibition halls will open their doors to show the best of what Copenhagen’s modern art scene has to offer when Kopenhagen Contemporary premiers.

Copenhagen’s art scene is red hot and the city’s galleries are invited to exhibit at trendsetting shows all over the world. In short, Copenhagen is becoming one of Europe’s important art metropolises. That’s why Wonderful Copenhagen together with Kopenhagen Publishing is launching a new annual event – Kopenhagen Contemporary.

- With Kopenhagen Contemporary, we will present Copenhagen’s 2008 art scene to a wide audience. Many of the participating galleries and exhibition halls will offer special events and arrangements. It is our wish that even more people become aware of the tremendous growth we are experiencing in the art world these years. Copenhagen is simply more and more visible in the global art scene, says Thomas Meier Lorenzen, project manager at Wonderful Copenhagen.

During this weekend, about 50 leading galleries, museums and exhibition spaces open their doors and offer receptions, guided tours, artist talks and debate events.  The participating venues cover a broad spectrum – from the firmly established to the newly opened galleries and exhibition spaces with an edge. Among the participants are Galleri Nicolai Wallner, V1 Gallery, Galerie Mikael Andersen, Karriere, Nils Stærk Contemporary Art, Arken, Statens Museum for Kunst and the galleries on Carl Jacobsens Vej in Valby.

The program for Kopenhagen Contemporary will be available at the beginning of August. Read more at: www.kopenhagencontemporary.com

Kopenhagen Contemporary is organized by Wonderful Copenhagen and Kopenhagen Publishing in collaboration with Copenhagen’s leading galleries, exhibition halls and museums.
